Spend a day surrounded by natural beauty at one of the many parks near home. Take a picnic to Bren Mar Park, just up the street, and wander the trails or let the kids enjoy the playground. (Bring your sled in the winter!) Also check out nearby Dora Kelley Nature Park, a wildlife preserve offering bike and walking trails through wooded hillsides and streams, as well as an educational Nature Center.

There's plenty to do in the neighborhood once the sun goes down. Head across the street and try for a strike at the local bowling alley, or drive just a few miles more to the Regal Cinema Kingstowne to catch up the latest from Hollywood. Challenge friends to Topgolf or Laser Tag, or put on your cowboy boots, grab a partner, and dance the night away to live country music at local favorite Nick's.

A visit to America's past is just 10 minutes away at the Fort Ward Museum and Historical Site. Originally a Union fort built to protect Washington DC during the Civil War, Fort Ward is now a museum dedicated to educating today's citizens about Virginia's past. Chat with one of the knowledgeable re-enactors to find out what it was really like to be a soldier or a civilian during the Civil War era.
