East Village: Happening Here. Happening Now.

East Village is San Diego's largest downtown neighborhood district encompassing 130 blocks and more than 700 businesses. One of the fastest-growing urban areas in the San Diego metro region, East Village has experienced explosive upscale residential and business growth since the opening of nearby Petco Park (home to the San Diego Padres) in 2004. The recent arrival of the $185 million San Diego Central Library further cemented the neighborhood's status as one of the most exciting and dynamic places to live in the region. A vibrant hotbed of culture, community, education, and commerce, East Village is one-of-a-kind urban living turned up to 10.

Eat Out Often and Well

Whatever your palate is craving, East Village can most likely accommodate. From the pricey (but worth it!) to the kind of simple fare you could enjoy on a nightly basis, East Village delivers the goods when it comes to dining out. Sidewalk café? Quite a few. International cuisine for the restless gustatory explorer? Of course, in spades. No one’s probably tried it, but it would definitely be possible to spend several years taking in all that East Village has to offer on the culinary front.

San Diego Sunshine

San Diego, known for its fantastic weather, is a perfect venue for getting out and getting away without actually having to go very far. Check out Sunset Cliffs, a public park directly west of downtown along the coast. A spectacular place to catch a sunset or just bike or hike, this is postcard California at its finest. To the south, Cabrillo National Monument offers up some of the most outstanding Pacific vantage points on the whole west coast. Just plain eye-poppingly beautiful!

San Diego Central Library

Opening its doors in 2011, the $185 million San Diego Central Library immediately became a vital focal point for education and culture in downtown. Designed by Robert Quigley, the library is a spectacular, soaring tribute to both mind and heart. The library features a multi-sensory video wall, a 350-seat auditorium, the IDEA lab with high-end workstations and 3D printer, the CityTV Media Studio, and plenty more.

Balboa Park

Twelve-hundred-acre Balboa Park is the perfect escape—the supreme location for losing yourself in another world. Famed for its themed gardens and splendid hiking trails, the park is also home to numerous museums, theaters, and even the world famous San Diego Zoo. Take a turn on the carousel, then set your head spinning at the San Diego Museum of Art. Drop into the Air & Space Museum, and finish off the day with an evening at the beautiful, Shakespeare-inspired Old Globe Theater. And that’s just for starters.

Petco Park

Home to San Diego Padres baseball, Petco Park opened in 2005 to wild acclaim and huge crowds. A gem of a stadium, Petco Park served as catalyst for the resurgence of this area of San Diego’s downtown including East Village. Towering above a prime location east of the marina, the stadium features fantastic views of harbor comings and goings as well as the glittering downtown skyline to the north. A quick and convenient jaunt from 13th & Market, Petco Park, is a real neighborhood treat.
